AGODI PRISON TRAINING UPDATE – August 8, 2018Posted on: August 9, 2018, by : EXPAR
The training started at 10:16 AM, the expectant inmates organized themselves the minute they saw our team, there were 19 inmates in attendance.
The training started with the inmates’ submission of assignment from previous training, in-between the submission a team of human rights activists from Abuja and the Oyo State Controller of prisons visited us and accessed the works of the inmates, one of the human rights representatives hoped the inmates could make her a portrait someday.
Mr. Charles Adetola revised the previous lesson and stressed more on the importance of observation.
The topic for the day was “What inspires us to draw” and it was handled by Mr. Yinka Afolabi, an EXPAR PROJECT team member, he pointed out the broad scope of art and explained that irrespective of the type of art they (inmates) choose to do it always reflect the thoughts that they have in mind, he explained further that whatever mood they are in when they draw is always perceived by the person looking at their artwork and the good thing about irrespective of the hatred, love, regrets they express on paper they won’t be judged for it.
Mr. Yinka highlighted four ways the inmates put on their ‘A’ game and it is listed below:
2. Reminiscing on ideas
3. Owning the profession
4. Practice continuously
He ended by saying what you think is what you become.
Towards the end of the training, we got one prospective student that would probably be registered in next week.
The inmates were given the assignment to draw popular Yoruba actor, Odunlade Adekola and it was supervised by Mr. Charles Adetola. The assignments were to be submitted by the next training session.
